Generally available under three categories, home alarms have a wired or wireless system. Thus, in order to better secure your home, each alarm system has specific features of its own. There are several ways to turn off an alarm. Let’s talk about them.
Deactivate a house alarm from the alarm center
There is more than one way to turn off an alarm. One of the solutions is to deactivate your home alarm from the control panel. Indeed, if you opt for this solution, be aware that you cannot have access to the total protection mode on the home alarm center. To access it, you can use a remote control or a badge reader. On the other hand, if you instead want to deactivate your house alarm in partial protection mode, all you have to do is press the key which is in the form of an open padlock.
This key is located among the five symbols placed in the central square of your equipment. Once you click on this padlock, the symbol will start flashing. This means that the protection mode has been activated. To stop it, you just need to press the corresponding icon.
Deactivate a house alarm from the access badge reader
Much more practical than the first method, this way of deactivating your home alarm remains the most popular. In fact, thanks to a badge reader, you can turn your alarm system on or off in a single gesture. This saves you having to remember a code or even enter it every time. To stop your alarm, simply present your contactless badge in front of the reader.
Once done, you will see the edge of the reader light up (usually green) for half a second. During this time your reader first checks the validity of your badge, before deactivating the alarm. However, if your badge is not valid, then the outline of your reader will light up in red. Note that this way of alarm deactivation is possible thanks to RFID technology.
Deactivate a home alarm from a remote control
In addition to these two aforementioned methods, you also have the option of deactivating an alarm via remote control. Even more interesting is this alarm deactivation device. It allows you to manage your alarm system without you having to travel to the control panel. When deactivating an alarm with remote control, you will see a red light coming on quickly. This confirms that the order has been sent. Likewise, when the alarm is deactivated, the indicator light will come on again.
The other possibility to deactivate a house alarm is to disconnect the low voltage transformer. This is sometimes fixed by a screw. To do this, you must turn off the AC power to disconnect the transformer. Once done, completely unplug keypads, sirens, and other types of sounds to stop the alarm.
There are a number of ways you can turn off your home alarm. However, be sure to choose the one that works best for you.
